TYPES OF ADOPTIONS

​

TYPE ONE: A type one adoption is for horses going on a 'boomerang contract'. This is for lower-priced horses that must be returned if the adopter can no longer care for the horse. They cannot be sold, leased or bred from. 

​

TYPE TWO: A type two adoption is for horses going on a "tracking contract". This is for higher-priced horses. If the adopter can no longer care for the horse, the rescue has the right to buy the horse back at 50% of the original sale price if no suitable home can be found. If a new suitable home can be found, they must be willing to sign our contract before the horse is sold. This system allows us to keep track of the horses but also recognises the amount of money and time that the owners put into them.

When applying for adoption, the application will be open for a certain amount of time. Once applications are closed, the best home will be chosen based on experience, location and facilities. Filling out an application does not guarantee you will be chosen. If you do NOT fill out an application, you will NOT be considered for adoption. Once a potential adopter has been chosen, they are required to visit the horse/pony first. If no suitable applicant is found, another round will be held.
